GENERAL RELEASE

       For good and valuable consideration, including the payment of four week's severance pay, less all applicable withholding and deductions, which amount Jane Doe ("Employee") acknowledges that she is not otherwise entitled to receive, Employee hereby remises, waives, releases and forever discharges Wrox Press ("Employer"), and each of its existing, former and future owners, officers, managers, employees, representatives, agents and affiliates (collectively "Releasees"), of and from any and all claims, actions, charges, suits, debts, liabilities, contacts, agreements and promises, of any kind or nature whatsoever, which Employee may have or assert against any of them, arising out of or relating to (i) any event or action which occurred before the date Employee signs this General Release an/or (ii) Employee's employment or termination of employment with Employer (including without limitation, any and all claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (29 U.S.C. 621 et seq.), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (42 U.S.C. 2000e et seq.), Sections 1981 through 1988 of Title 42 of the United States Code (42 U.S.C. 1981-88), the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq.), the Fair Labor Standards Act (29 U.S.C. 201 et seq.), the Illinois Human Rights Act (775 ILCS 5/1-101 et seq.), the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act (820 ILCS 115/1 et seq.), or any other federal, state or local law, ordinance, statute or regulation dealing with employment; any and all claims for compensation, vacation pay or benefits; and any and all claims based on any contract (express or implied), tort, wrongful discharge or retaliatory discharge theory. Employee further promises never to institute any claim, action, charge or suit, of any kind or nature whatsoever, against any of the Releasees which arises from or relates to Employee's employment or termination of employment with Employer or any other event or action which occurred before the date Employee signs this General Release. Employee represents and warrants that she has not assigned or transferred any portion of any such claim, action, charge or suit.

 

       Employee agrees to treat this General Release as confidential in all respects and, except as required by law or expressly authorized by Employer, not to disclose its existence or contents to anyone other than the tax authorities and her attorney, accountant and immediate family.

 

       Employee acknowledges and understands that she will have an opportunity to consider this General Release for up to twenty-one (21) days before signing it and that she will have seven (7) days after signing it to revoke her signature and agreement to be bound by the terms of it. If this General Release is not revoked by Employee within such seven (7) day period, it will become effective, if not sooner revoked by Employee, on the eighth (8th) day after Employee signs it, and the severance payment will be issued to Employee on that date.

 

       Employee acknowledges that she has had an opportunity and been encouraged to discuss this General Release with an attorney of her choosing before signing it; that she has read and understands its contents; and that she signs it voluntarily and of their own free will as follows:
